PAYMENTS 2019: NACHA’S Mega Event for Payments Professionals

The “Smarter-Faster” PAYMENTS 2019 conference for payments professionals takes place May 5 – 8 at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, Fla.

According to NACHA, the event producer, “PAYMENTS 2019 unites thousands of payments system stakeholders from business end-user and financial and technology services organizations to debate and explore the more pressing issues and opportunities today. Attendees will experience world-class education with concurrent sessions and workshops featuring payments and innovation experts.”

The conference also features an interactive expo hall as well as networking events for executives and senior-level payments professionals from fintech, financial services and corporate environments.

Keynotes

Tom Goodwin, the EVP/head of Innovation for Zenith Media and the author of Digital Darwinism, shares his understanding of new technology, behaviors and platforms to ideate and implement solutions during the Opening Keynote on Monday, May 6.

Educational Specialties

Payments professionals will have the opportunity to pool their knowledge via the unique learning channels of the following educational specialties:

  • Smarter. Faster. Payments Zone — A theater setting offering smarter payment solutions via educational sessions, demos and discussions on advancements in smarter payments.
  • Corporate Learning Center — Peer learning and problem solving in a dedicated area for payments professionals from sectors such as corporate, business, government, education, nonprofit and religious organizations.
  • Executive Series — Sessions designed for senior executives to examine critical topics and engage in learn wood cutstrategic discussions.
  • Spotlight Speaker Series — Notable payments professionals speaking on top-of-mind payments topics.
  • Topical Talks — Discussion groups enabling dialogue and debate on trending payments topics.
  • Innovation Hub — Interactive demonstrations debuting the next wave of payments industry innovations.
  • Briefings — 25-minute sessions examining critical topics.
  • Deep Dive Dialogues — An opportunity for attendees to engage speakers during focused 50-minute discussions.

Educational Tracks

Payments professionals can immerse themselves in eight unique educational tracks. Seven tracks are topic based while one is a half day of two-hour learning sessions called “Sunday Workshops.” There are 77 seminar sessions scheduled Monday through Wednesday and 12 pre-conference workshops on Sunday. Many of the events run concurrently, so attendees should plan accordingly.

ACH

The sessions in the ACH track focus on the most critical subjects in the current and future ACH payments space. Topics will address ACH “innovation and emerging business models and opportunities.” Session titles of note include How to Simplify & Manage Risk for Small Business ACH, Recent Developments in Electronic Payments Law, and U.S. Treasury’s Move Toward Paperless Processes.

Compliance & Regulatory

This track targets the government regulations inherent to financial services and payments while providing the “necessary surety for transactions.” Compliance now encompasses “innovation, transaction quality, opportunity and financial reward. Understanding the most crucial concepts and innovations will lead to positive, competitive results.”

Corporate & End-User Perspective

These sessions dwell upon the needs, solutions and business practices of end-user clients (corporate, business, state and local government, higher education and charitable and religious organizations) that originate and receive payments. A cross-section of session topics includes Corporate Banking Technology Trends, Modern Techniques to Digitized AR & AP, and The Persistence of Cash in the Less-Cash Environment.

Cybersecurity & Risk

These timely sessions are designed to help payments professionals with words of advice: “staying a step ahead of those interlopers or fraudsters is key to mitigating loss of revenue, reputation and customer relationships. Sessions focus on emerging threats and ways to recognize risks to prevent loss as well as provide the necessary surety for transactions.” Examples of session topics include Educating Your Organization on Cybercrime; APIs in Payments: Practical Uses; and Biller Directory Utopia.

Disruptive Ideas & Technologies

This track is centered on “the topics that threaten to disrupt the status quo, elicit controversy and provoke debate innovate metal wheelsin the industry.” Attendees will learn about “new technologies, infrastructures, opportunities and threats, value chain democratization and the redefinition of the way parties interact and transact is portending a future quite different from today.”

Faster Payments Experience

This track expresses the essence of the entire conference. Many sessions focus on “same-day, immediate and other faster payments initiatives.” Topic highlights include How Faster Payments Work at the Point of Sale; Immediate Payments: More than Meets the Eye; and Making Payments in Your Sleep.

Smarter Payments Experience

According to NACHA, “the Smarter Payments Experience spans the breadth of the conference program, providing attendees with a complete and unparalleled examination of smarter payment capabilities and solutions and how they benefit customers. … These capabilities instill greater intelligence that enhances decision making and awareness, informs choices and actions, removes friction, strengthens security and confidence and adds value.” A cross-section of titles reveals the depth of the content: Requests for Payment: Making Payments Contextual; Robotic Process Automation as a Force Multiplier; and What’s Next for Chatbots?

Sunday Workshops – Sunday, May 5

The two-hour workshops (separate registration fee required) educate attendees on a variety of payments industry topics with the help of interactive training techniques.

Continuing Education

PAYMENTS 2019 enables up-and-coming payments professionals to earn Continuing Education Credits in their quest to reach three certifications: ACH Accredited Professionals (AAP), Accredited Payments Risk Professionals (APRP), and Certified Treasury Professionals (CTP).

The Payments Awards celebrate proven accomplishment and leadership among payments professionals, and also recognize payments innovations defining the future.
