CrossCheck Honors Merchants for National Small Business Week 2019

Posted by Joe Gargiulo | Tue, Apr 30, 2019 @ 11:45 AM

small business ownerCrossCheck, the leading privately held check guarantee company in the nation, is celebrating the success of its merchant customers during National Small Business Week 2019. The recognition coincides with challenging times for merchants who continue to thrive amidst ongoing threats from online giants, increasing overhead and new labor shortages.

CrossCheck provides these merchants with guaranteed payment solutions that help increase sales and mitigate risk while saving time and money.

Recent studies (e.g. an October 2018 webinar by PYMNTS.com) demonstrate that merchants continue to accept checks because they are preferred by many consumers and businesses. Furthermore, some business models with small profit margins (e.g. auto dealerships) prefer check payments because credit card interchange fees virtually annihilate their small profit margins.

What is National Small Business Week?

Started under President Kennedy in 1963 and produced by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the annual event recognizes the top entrepreneurs in the country. The current lineup of activities includes the Virtual Conference, SmallBusinessWeek Hackathon, NSBW Twitter Chat, and the NSBW National Awards.

Virtual Conference (May 7 – 8)

This free two-day virtual conference is hosted by the U.S. Small Business Administration and SCORE Association. It enables business owners to become acquainted with other business owners while finding common ground and expert advice — all in the comfort of their business office or home.

SmallBusinessWeek Hackathon (May 3 – 5)

The Small Business Administration and VISA invite small business owners “to bring your ideas and your laptop to spend a weekend solving real business challenges as part of the kickoff of the National Small Business Week 2019.” The hackathon happens in Washington, D.C.

NSBW Twitter Chat (May 10)

Merchants can discuss the best ways to start and maintain a small business with industry experts via the NSBW Twitter Chat (@SBAgov) on Friday, May 10 at 12pm ET using the hashtag #SmallBusinessWeek.

National Awards Ceremonies

The NSBW National Awards honor merchants in “17 different categories ranging from research and development, exporting, outreach, contracting, lending, disaster recovery to manufacturing and construction.”

CrossCheck and Small Business Owners

CrossCheck’s partnership with small business entrepreneurs goes back to its formation in 1983. Since then, the company has expanded its services to include convenient and profitable electronic check guarantee capabilities using Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) with Multiple Check.

RDC provides the convenience of electronic check processing while the Multiple Check enhancement allows small businesses to accept 2 – 4 guaranteed checks for a single large purchase. Merchants deposit each check on future dates (typically over 30 days) designated by consumers who take home their purchased items without waiting, financing or applying for credit.

Benefits include daily "deposit slips," batch out reports, advanced transaction data, loaner equipment at no additional charge, and 24/7/365 Customer Service and Tech Support. These services are available via CrossCheck's Merchant Check Center or CrossCheck FOCUS, a desktop app.

RDC with Multiple Check offers both single and multiple check options, assuring risk-free digital processing with the tools to increase sales.
