Posted by Joe Gargiulo | Sat, Jun 03, 2017 @ 09:45 AM

loss preventionThe National Retail Federation presents NRF Protect, a retail industry loss prevention (LP) conference, on June 26 – 28, 2017 in Washington, D.C. at the Gaylor National Resort & Convention Center. Billed as “the largest, most important retail and restaurant LP event in North America,” NRF Protect includes educational sessions and workshops, a tradeshow, an awards presentation, special-guest speakers and multiple networking opportunities.

The National Retail Federation (NRF) is an advocacy group supporting the retail industry while fostering innovation in customer experience, job creation and workforce investment, technological development, and the continuation of open markets for consumer goods.

This year’s event features four new programs and four enhanced favorites.

New Programs

  • Emerging Leaders Workshop: Verbal Defense and Influence — a half-day workshop offering tested tactics to de-escalate stressful retail encounters.
  • LP Mentor Experience Roundtables — Featuring members of the NRF LP Council and other experienced LP retail leaders.
  • NRF Engage: One-on-One Pre-Scheduled Meetings — a series of short, private meetings between retail attendees and exhibitors making it easier for retailers to maneuver the array of EXPO products and solutions.
  • Retail Teams — Companies (NRF members and non-members) registering for five full-conference retail passes receive a team discount.

Enhanced Programs for the Retail Industry

  • Exhibitor Insights — These exhibitor-produced sessions have been reorganized to deliver one of three types of sessions: case study, product demo or success story.
  • Food Retail Asset Protection Pavilion — In partnership with the Food Marketing Institute (FMI), this program offers an expanded number of EXPO exhibitors with dedicated security solutions for the food retail, restaurant and grocery segments.
  • More Retailer & Law Enforcement Collaboration — Enjoy breakfast and network with 25+ state and federal law enforcement agencies and various organized retail crime association (ORCA) partners.
  • NRF Clubhouse — a place for all attendees to relax and network in a comfortable setting with chairs, hubs and charging stations.

Education

The learning component of NRF Protect includes Breakout Sessions curated by NRF, Executive Afternoon, Exhibiting Insights and Mentor Roundtables. It also offers sessions in five separate tracks: Crisis Management, Development & Leadership, Shrink & Fraud, Technology & Innovation and Safety. See the Educational Program page for details on the Breakout Sessions and tracks.

Speakers

NRF Protect offers nearly 60 speakers, including keynote sessions presented by some of the best LP experts in the world.

For example, “Never Split the Difference — Lessons from a Former Hostage Negotiator” (Tue, June 27) is co-presented by Ellen Davis, SVP NRF and executive director, NRF Foundation; and Christopher Voss, former FBI lead international kidnapping negotiator and author of “Never Split the Difference.”

Cathy Lanier, the NFL’s senior VP of Security, will deliver “Safety & Preparedness in the 21st Century on June 28.

Later that day, Daniel Faketty, VP – Asset Protection of Southeastern Grocers, and five-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning take the helm of “The Goalposts of Leadership are Shifting: Are You?”

Expo

The tradeshow offers attendees more than 38,000 square feet of innovative technologies, special LP and asset protection programming, and various networking opportunities. Get a free pass here.

Loss Prevention Awards

2017 NRF PROTECT Awards are the highest LP and asset protection recognitions in the retail industry: Ring of Excellence Award, LP Case of the Year, and Law Enforcement Retail Partnership. These awards “celebrate and acknowledge the LP professionals and law enforcement officers who have made an impact on the community and the retail industry.”
