home furnishingsUnderlined by resounding approval from attendees and exhibitors, organizers of Las Vegas Market (LVM) said the successful 2018 Summer Market was represented by “strong buyer traffic, increased order writing, and new product introductions.” Home furnishings dealers, retailers, designers, and other industry experts and stakeholders were presented with more than 5 million square feet of permanent and temporary exhibit space showcasing a wide selection of home décor, gift, housewares, gourmet, handmade, and antique products. The mega-event took place July 29 – Aug 2 at the World Market Center campus (WMC) in Las Vegas.

Gift and Home Categories

LVM is the “nation’s fasted growing gift and home décor market and leading furniture marketplace in the western U.S.,” showcasing over 4,000 gift, home décor and home furniture resources. In total, more than 2,700 temporary and permanent gift lines exhibited in the categories of general gift, tabletop, lifestyle, fashion accessories, gourmet and housewares, seasonal, specialty foods, lighting, furniture, home décor, personal care and spa, toy, jewelry, inspirational, textiles, vintage, and stationery.

Summer LVM 2018 welcomed more than 120 new and returning exhibitors, several major expansions, nearly 150 new-to-market exhibitors, and 54 permanent new showrooms. See LVM’s Best Booth recipients for top product examples.

Antique and Vintage Home Furnishings

Each year, the Pavilions — 30,000 square feet of temporary showroom space — houses an array of antique and vintage products. Attendees discovered everything from repurposed and recycled décor items to vintage furniture.

Many categories received outstanding buyer interest: Handmade with over 80 artisan exhibitors, Design Home featuring more than 40 exhibitors, Home and Discoveries with over 55 exhibitors, and antique and vintage exhibitors with trending designs.

Networking and Special Events

The market produced more than 40 industry partnerships, solidifying its role as a “networking destination for the home furnishings, gift, and design industries,” LVM stated. Organizations including Hallmark, the International Furnishings and Design Association, the Home Furnishings Retail Association, and other hosted member meetings and collaborative events.

The 2018 ‘Up on the Roof’ Gift for Life Gala raised $16,866, a new record. The annual event supports Gift for Life, “the gift, stationery and home décor industries’ sole charitable organization.” Funds raised will support Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA), The Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada, and the Matthew Shepard Foundation.

Ongoing Benefits for Home Furnishings Dealers

CrossCheck was stationed at booth 22 in the HFA Retailers Resource Center where Senior Vice President of Sales Charles Dortch III showed merchants how our check guarantee services can help them increase sales and mitigate risk. For example, Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) with Multiple Check offers guaranteed electronic check processing and additional time for consumers to pay for expensive items. RDC with Multiple Check is easy to use.

Consumers write 2 – 4 checks for one transaction, all bearing the same sale date (post-dating is not permitted), then designate dates for depositing each check separately over a 30-day period. Merchants scan the checks with desktop imagers and send the data to CrossCheck via its online Merchant Check Center for fast approval. Funding is guaranteed (generally within 72 hours) as each check is deposited by CrossCheck.

RDC with Multiple Check is equally beneficial to consumers and merchants. Consumers take home items on the sale date without credit or financing charges. Meanwhile, CrossCheck handles the deposit of guaranteed checks for merchants who make fewer bank visits and no longer worry about returned checks.
