The annual Women in Automotive (WIA) Conference is expanding its annual event to two locations, with the installment of a winter conference in Palm Springs, Calif. The rapidly growing conference strives to propel the automotive industry forward in relation to women, one of the market’s key segments. Focusing on “educating and empowering women and men in the automotive community on thought leadership and trends that impact employment and sales growth,” the second 2017 conference will take place December 10 – 11. Regardless of gender, WIA encourages all auto dealers to attend dynamic sessions, workshops, networking events and socials.

The Power of Women’s Conferences

Women auto dealers account for 2.8 percent of all U.S. dealership employees and hold “only 7 percent

of the managerial, sales and service advisor positions,” WIA reports. WIA trains and educates dealerships on job creation, balanced positions, retention and skill development for women. Highlighting women within the industry simultaneously encourages dealerships to create outreach efforts, advance resources for women employees, and inform professionals on effective marketing strategies for female consumers.

Agenda Highlights

New events and networking opportunities include a morning yoga class, Women@Google video breaks and additional sessions by female industry leaders. The 2017 WIA conference offers various opportunities to address women’s top concerns and insights. Educational sessions are crafted to inspire women of all positions and experience levels, and bridge the gap in the automotive industry.

auto dealersSessions will be held in four formats — 50-minute educational sessions, 50-minute educational panels of three or more speakers, keynote address and keynote panels of three or more speakers. Each session will fall under one of four educational tracks.

  • Dealership Strategies and Tactics covers hot topics and trends from social media and recruiting to customer loyalty and public relations.
  • The Leadership track demonstrates efficient leadership skills with topics such as the psychology of sales and the science of being a leader.
  • Personal Development focuses on effective communication with men and personal branding.
  • Trends for Women explores proven methods for advertising, selling and communicating with female consumers.

The first round of sessions on December 10 begin at 10:55 a.m. Expert speakers will present topics ranging from customer loyalty to inspiring a positive culture. In her session “Don’t Tell Me No,” Wadette Bradford will share the tools to understand and navigate “no’s” while empowering attendees with the confidence to pursue their goals. “Women Buyers – Get the Playbook” by Natalie Born guides participants through the ever-evolving landscape of women’s purchasing power and buying trends. “Wallet Wise” will focus on financial education. Speaker Emily Orlanda demonstrates the importance of introducing financial terms to children and how this practice impacts auto-buying.

A sampling of sessions on December 11 include “Changing Mindsets: Becoming a Positive Mirror,” by Jenny Vance; “Marketing Strategies That Actually Sell Cars: Making an Impact with your Digital Footprint,” by Chelsea Nodine; and “The Science of the Sale,” by Tony Dupaquier. Vance will focus on how to encourage personal success and colleague support. Nodine will demonstrate approaches to channeling resources to highly valuable in-market consumers called “now buyers”, and Dupaquier will showcase his proven Y.E.S. process for selling merchandise.
