Petaluma, Calif. (Feb. 26, 2019) — Employees of CrossCheck and its affiliate, Optio Solutions, have reached 10 consecutive months of volunteer work at the Redwood Empire Food Bank. The latest participation in the food bank’s weekday Warehouse Support program was Feb. 21. REFB representative Caty Priebe said the staff members helped package 4,800 pounds of fresh oranges, representing 5,760 meals for seniors in need.

CrossCheck Senior Vice President Charles Dortch III organizes the monthly effort and is on site to help pack food items. He is joined by the firm's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Office Chris Schumacher and other senior vice presidents.

“Our monthly volunteer night at the food bank enhances camaraderie while giving back to the Sonoma County community,” said Schumacher. “CrossCheck and Optio employees are regular contributors of time and money to a variety of causes such as the Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society and American Red Cross.”

The Redwood Empire Food Bank (REFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization serving north coastal California from Sonoma County to the Oregon border. Since 1987, the REFB has provided food and nourishment to those facing hunger, currently serving 82,000 children, families and seniors in Sonoma County while striving to end hunger in the community.

Evening Warehouse Support shifts are scheduled Monday through Thursday from 5 – 7 pm, but a variety of other volunteer opportunities are offered throughout the week (see the REFB Volunteer page for days and times.)
