Compliance Manager

This position manages the CrossCheck Corporate Compliance Program. Responsible for understanding and implementing regulatory and legal procedures/policies/trainings related to FCRA, CCPA/CPRA, GLBA, UDAAP and other state and federal consumer protection, privacy and credit reporting laws and regulations applicable to the financial services industry. Ensures the Board of Directors that CrossCheck management and employees are in compliance with the rules and regulations of applicable regulatory agencies, that company policies and procedures are being followed, and that behavior in the organization meets the company’s standards of conduct.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Develops, initiates, maintains, manages, and revises policies, procedures, and work instructions for the general operation of the Compliance Program, the Consumer Inquiry and Privacy Departments, and related activities to prevent conduct that does not comply with applicable laws and regulations
  2. Presents Compliance Program to Board of Directors, CrossCheck Management team, regulatory or examining bodies
  3. Acts as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance issues/concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved
  4. Monitors Consumer Inquiry and Privacy Inquiry functions and related areas to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future
  5. Conducts review, investigation, and response to consumer inquiries and complaints that present issues or assert violations or potential violations of applicable laws and regulations, as needed
  6. Prepares for and engages in regulatory and client examinations and audits on behalf of the Company
  7. Supports the Legal Department with various projects involving compliance as needed, including drafting or revising Company documents
  8. Development of an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees and periodic training for existing employees of the relevant departments
  9. Performs legal, regulatory and other research as needed in furtherance of compliance related policies, procedures and collections functions
  10. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with other employees
  11. Ability to meet department attendance requirements
  12. Ability to work effectively under departmental pressure/stress situations

Marginal Job Functions

  1. Monitors, and as necessary, coordinates compliance activities of other departments to remain abreast of the status of all compliance activities and to identify trends
  2. Collaborates with other departments to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution
  3. Consults with Legal Department as needed to resolve legal compliance issues
  4. Monitors the performance of the Compliance Program and related activities on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve effectiveness
  5. Performs other similar or associated duties as necessary to accomplish job objectives in an effective manner as assigned by Management or as responsibilities necessitate

Qualification Standards

  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB 

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in Business, Finance, Public Administration or related area

Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in direct investigative discipline, application and interpretation of laws and regulations, and compliance management (Consumer Reporting Agency or credit reporting experience preferred)

Demonstrated leadership ability and ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

Understanding of laws and regulations related to the FCRA, GLBA, CCPA/CPRA, UDAAP, and other related consumer protection, privacy, and consumer payments laws and regulations

Understanding of risk management, and performance improvement helpful

Familiarity with laws and regulations applicable to consumer payments and authorizations, such as E-Sign, EFTA, and NACHA, helpful
