Posted by Jessica Beaudry | Fri, Jan 19, 2018 @ 01:00 PM

veterinariansFrom February 3 – 7, the North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) will host the Veterinary Meeting & Expo (VMX) 2018 conference in Orlando, Florida. The nonprofit organization invites veterinarians, veterinary technicians, practice managers, support staff and students practicing within the U.S. and abroad to attend the annual event formerly known as the NAVC Conference. VMX 2018 presents dynamic educational sessions, an extensive exhibit hall featuring the latest industry technologies and an entertainment lineup including concerts and socials.

Built on the six core values of commitment, excellence, innovation, stewardship, communication and authenticity, the VMX 2018 conference experience involves:

  • Over 17,000 attendees from all 50 states and an additional 80 countries
  • More than 1,200 Continuing Education (CE) credit hours to choose from
  • The opportunity to complete up to 41.5 hours of CE
  • 350 plus “nationally-renowned” speakers presenting over 1,200 hours of veterinary CE education

Educational Programming for Veterinarians

veterinariansVeterinarians can attend lectures, Hands-on Labs, Rounds and Meet the Professor Luncheons. Topics cover a variety of standard practices and specialties including emergency medical and critical care, veterinary forensics, canine sports medicine, soft tissue and orthopedics surgery, animal welfare, small animal medicine and dentistry.

Seasoned instructors will guide over 30 Hands-on Labs. A sampling of titles include Fracture Repair in Toy Breed Dogs and Cats Laboratory; Beyond Restraint: No Fear, No Distress, Low-Stress Patient Examination and Handling Laboratory; and Dental Radiography Laboratory. Labs will provide all tools and supplies needed.

Rounds explore real case studies from wildlife medicine and adrenal function testing to avoiding complications following a tumor removal. Top practitioners will deliver two-hour presentations followed by discussion in groups of 30 or less.

Veterinary professionals can exchange experiences and strategies with leading clinicians and colleagues in Meet the Professor Luncheons. For example, Dental Emergencies: Fractured Teeth, Fractured Bone: How to Respond! discusses dental emergencies and what constitutes an emergency. Each 90-minute luncheon is limited to 30 seats.

Refer to the VMX 2018 digital program guide for a complete list of education and events.

Expo Hall Features

Over 650 exhibitors will showcase products and services ranging from surgical equipment to animal themed jewelry from February 4 – 7. Prior to the conference attendees can find exhibitors via the exhibitor list and interactive exhibitor map.

The Expo Hall Education Square will host Hospital Design for the 21st Century. Veterinarians interested in small hospital versus large hospital design can attend this series of break-out sessions dedicated to financing, building, renovating, and outfitting hospitals. The workshop runs February 4 – 7.

Entertainment Lineup

A concert series featuring Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas and a general session featuring Michael J. Fox are among the exclusive entertainment organized by NAVC. Attendees can run and or walk a 5K with a shelter dog or their own companion animal at the Fun(d) Run. Proceeds will support the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA).

Providing Care with Confidence

veterinariansThe VMX 2018 conference provides veterinarians with industry knowledge, resources and discovery through NAVC’s all-encompassing schedule. Professionals may register for the event here. Once registered, attendees can log in to the Attendee Service Center to add and remove sessions, update profile information, complete the attendee checklist and more.

The ability to deliver expert care while receiving full compensation is crucial. Veterinary clinics and hospitals can implement one or more of CrossCheck’s payment solutions to reduce risk and increase revenue while ensuring necessary care for pawed patients.

Our Multiple Check service allows clients additional time to fund care for their companion animal(s) without using or applying for credit. Clients write 2 – 4 checks that are deposited by merchants over a 30-day period. Veterinary businesses receive guaranteed funding by CrossCheck with each deposit.
