Ever been in a bidding war at an auction? How about a slam dunk win where nobody bids against you? Maybe you were blown away by a bidder with deeper pockets and could barely get your paddle up to bid, once? Have you ever watched an item of yours being sold at an auction? In either case, two things are inevitable.

At auctions, emotions run very high and adrenaline is coursing through your veins like gas through a Holley double pumper carburetor.

The auctioneer is making bank on fees from buyers and sellers.

To illustrate the latter point, we built the infographic below about Mecum Auctions' Houston show where 70 percent of the entries hammered sold, total sales value topped $20 mil, and the top three cars sold were surprisingly built after 2000. If by chance you are auctioning your Ford GT, don't make the same mistake John Cena made!
