The General Motors Minority Dealers Association (GMMDA) held its Summer Business Meeting in Chicago, providing attendees with support, inspiration and exceptional networking events. The event was held August 7 – 9 at the J.W. Marriott Chicago.

The GMMDA is a non-profit membership organization promoting the success, viability and profitability of existing and future General Motors minority-owned automobile dealerships in the USA.

auto dealersAs a Preferred Vendor of GMMDA, CrossCheck was represented by Senior VP Sales Charles Dortch III who discussed “payments made profitable” for auto dealers using CrossCheck’s Auto Industry RDC Solution (C.A.R.S.) program.

“It was an intimate setting,” said Dortch. "I had a chance to discuss CrossCheck’s payment solutions with over 60 dealership principals who learned about the lifetime value of accepting guaranteed checks as down payments.”

See the article “One Declined Check & the Lifetime Loss to an Auto Dealer” for a detailed analysis of lifetime value at auto dealerships.

The three-day GMMDA event had something for everyone, including:

  • Meetings for the Minority Dealers Advisory Council
  • Meetings for the GMMDA board of directors
  • A trade show featuring industry exhibitors
  • Personalized consultations for members to learn about financial opportunities
  • Minority Dealer Development Group 20 Sessions
  • A GM Reception on the Odyssey Chicago Full Moon Dinner Cruise

auto dealersMDD (Minority Dealer Development) 20 Group Sessions provide dealer principals and managers with the opportunity to collaborate with their peers a few times each year to analyze operations and identify new ways to maximize profits and stay ahead of the competition.

General Motors pulled out all the stops during the Odyssey Chicago Full Moon Dinner Cruise. The three-hour event on Lake Michigan included three-course plated dinners, open bar, DJ and dancing. According to the Odyssey Chicago website, the cruise offers “the most breathtaking views of the Chicago skyline and attractions, including Willis Tower, John Hancock Center, Shedd Aquarium and more.”
