Furniture dealers and home furnishings industry stakeholders located within the United States will assemble for business enhancing education and community building at the Furniture First Symposium 2018. Furniture First is a “purchasing cooperative with more than 223 stockholder members, representing over 484 furniture stores in 47 states.” The event will take place May 14 – 16 at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., providing ample business opportunities including:
- Sessions that address marketing tactics, operations, merchandising and new product production
- Relater roundtables and “best idea” sessions that offer formal networking and peer-to-peer knowledge sharing

Retailers will learn practical approaches to securing business and consumer data in Digital Security: Protecting Your Business from Cyber Attack by James Bone of Global Compliance Associates. Topics covered consist of Bitcoin, protecting data from ransomware, and insights on the market for stolen data. Bone will also emphasize the importance of safe internet use and the value of understanding human behavior to safeguard against attacks.
During half-hour breakout sessions, attendees may select one presentation for each time slot. Titles include Enhancing Consumer Engagement Online, The Benefits of Performance Groups, A Peek into Consumer Trends, and Tools 2B First Open Forum.
