Video Transcript

Over four thousand professionals plan to descend upon the ETA Transact conference here in San Francisco this March thirty-first through April second, and since over a thousand of them are C-Level executives ready to sign new business, it’s no wonder that more than two hundred exhibitors will greet them.

The payments space has never been this competitive – or this crowded – before. And after a year when tens of millions of credit cards were compromised, everyone wants to talk about “the next big thing.” That’s one reason we’re going.

Your client will expect you to know what’s going on, and ETA is the perfect place to learn about things like cloud-based POS systems, digital wallets, and the new equipment required for these innovations.

Many merchants want something less expensive but more secure than the current credit card platform. And given the breadth of innovation, many are prepared to listen to anything, including outlier ideas like the Bitcoin blockchain.

There’s a reason for that. According to the most recent Federal Reserve payments study, the majority of businesses won’t adopt a new payment platform until they see the majority of other businesses already using it. That means they’ll listen to anything because most have no intention of making any changes right now.

So you need to figure out what you can actually sell this year. We can help you there. Most of your clients see checks every day. The Fed study noted, “Among large businesses checks represent more than half of payments sent and received; among small and micro businesses, these percentages are more than 70 percent and 90 percent, respectively.”

They same study concluded that this won’t change anytime soon, since existing alternatives are too fragmented and expensive. Before businesses will stop using checks, the Federal Reserve says, quote “enhancements to the electronic alternatives…are needed.”

And it’s not just B2B. Consumers use them consistently. One out of five purchases over $100 is paid for with a check, and nearly 70% of larger purchases, like buying a car, involve a paper check.

If you want this business, we have specialized packages for Medical clinics, Furniture stores, Heavy Equipment dealers and Building Supply lots. We’re at booth 1002. Stop by for a chance to win a Chromecast or a cool wine bottle opener.
