Dear Spell Check,
Why are you still underlining Selfie, Twerk and Showrooming as misspelled words, and how fast do you update yourself?
Sincerely,
Oxford Dictionaries
Recently, the Oxford Dictionaries Word of the Year 2013 was announced along with some runner-ups.
Word of the Year 2013
Love Thy "Selfie" - a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website.
Who hasn't done this, who won't continue to do this? Note to selfie - don't go duckface, no one looks good in duckface! See my most recent selfie below for an 8-Ball league website, telling everyone, "Oh, I shoot pool alright ... NEXT!":
Word of the Year 2013 Runner-Ups
The "Twerk" - dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance.
Who hasn't done this, who won't ... wait, wrong paragraph. Note to selfie - could damage image or reputation, don't do this. See a pic of me not twerking below with fellow marketer, Brandon Weaver and Conan O'Brien:
"Showrooming" Kabooming - the practice of visiting a shop or shops in order to examine a product before buying it online at a lower price.
Yep, who hasn't done this, who won't continue to do this? Note to selfie - study this topic, write a guide on the topic explaining what showrooming is in simple terms and offer 40 tips to help retail management embrace and prevent showrooming, when necessary.
