I’m in New Orleans attending HFIC (the Home Furnishings Industry Conference). Today is day one and the conference has gotten off to a very exciting start. This conference is attended by home furnishing retailers from throughout the country and is a great opportunity to network, socialize and learn. Here’s a little more about the first day.
The conference officially opened with the General Session where we were treated to an excellent talk by keynote speaker Jim Knight, former Head of Global Training at Hard Rock Cafe. He discussed the importance and the process of building a culture that rocks. He focused on areas ranging from hiring the right people to building a vision that all members of an organization can share and believe in. The overall goal is to enhance your organizational environment and create a culture that ultimately provides your customer with a memorable experience. So important for retailers!
At the conclusion of the general session we were treated to a magic/comedy show by the Fabulous Dante. Dante is a New Orleans native who specializes in sleight of hand tricks accompanied with witty quips. Dante's performance was followed by dinner and networking.
The vibe was very positive and upbeat. Everyone seems genuinely excited about the formation of the North American Home Furnishings Association (NAHFA). The NAHFA combines the WHFA (Western Home Furnishing Association), the NHFA (National Home Furnishings Association) and the HFIA (Home Furnishings Independents Association). Together the organization membership serves over 10,000 stores. I spoke with vendors and retailers alike who all are very happy to see the association have one unified voice.
If you’re attending the conference, be sure to stop by and see us at booth #36. We would like to talk to you about how we can help you increase sales and reduce risk, of course, but more importantly, we’d like to meet you and hear about what’s working for your business and what’s not. We are also raffling off Emeril's Gift Cards to three attendees.
If you’re not planning on attending the conference, but would like to hear about our NAHFA program and how we can assist your business, click here for more information. We’ll enter you in the gift card contest, too!
I look forward to the next two days as I see this year's conference as a tremendous opportunity to meet with new retailers and connect with current clients. If you're enjoying the conference, as well, please comment below.
