FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Petaluma, Calif. (Nov. 20, 2018) — Employees from CrossCheck and its affiliate, Optio Solutions, made an early start on holiday giving by donating 25 turkeys to the Redwood Gospel Mission’s Great Thanksgiving Banquet 2018, a multi-purpose event focused on helping families in need as well as the homeless. The 500 pounds of fresh and frozen turkeys were delivered today in time for the mission’s hot turkey dinner celebration (11 am to 7 pm, Wed., Nov. 21) at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.

“The Great Thanksgiving Banquet has been a vital part of our community outreach for over 20 years,” states the mission. “Everyone is welcome to enjoy a hot turkey dinner, get a free haircut, warm coat or medical evaluation. There will be chapel services and a foot washing area where guests can be pampered and receive a new pair of socks. There are games, activities and bounce houses, family food bags, booths with various services and the Gospel message. All are provided free of charge.”

Organizers and volunteers aggregated bags of donated food items between Oct. 8 and Nov. 20. Additional volunteers are needed to prepare and serve meals at dinner or provide further support for the other scheduled activities.

“Community giving helps us appreciate our individual good fortune during the holiday season and beyond,” said CrossCheck CEO and President J. David Siembieda. “Our employees are perpetual contributors to a variety of causes, including local volunteer efforts and fundraising efforts near and far.”

Press Release
For Immediate Release:
January 8, 2016

Petaluma, Calif. – CrossCheck, Inc., a leading provider of check processing services, concluded 2015 with a charitable bang by sponsoring a Salvation Army Angel Tree and hosting a food drive for the Redwood Empire Food Bank (REFB). Employees collected 75 presents for local children in need. Food drive efforts filled three barrels — one more barrel than was originally provided — with food for needy families this holiday season.CrossCheck's Food Drive for the Redwood Empire Food Bank

As a corporate sponsor of a Salvation Army Angel Tree, CrossCheck employees were able to select a tag from its decorated Christmas tree to fulfill at least one of the suggested gift requests. Last year, the Salvation Army of Petaluma reported that over 500 children had received presents accumulated from sponsors like CrossCheck.

The Christmas Center at the Salvation Army of Petaluma allows low income families with children ages 0-17 to sign up to receive gifts, many of whom don’t have a Christmas tree much less any presents to unwrap.

“We help care for the people of Sonoma County as if they are part of our family, because in truth, they are.” said CrossCheck CEO, J. David Siembieda. He goes on to state, “Simply put, we can help, so we do.”

The REFB regularly feeds 82,000 hungry adults and children in Sonoma County each month, and also provides food and hunger relief to others in Lake, Mendocino, Humboldt and Del Norte counties. The REFB is a member of Feeding America and a member of the California Association of Food Banks.

REFB’s most recent 2015 statistics revealed that by spring, 400 community food drives had been hosted by companies like CrossCheck as well as schools, online sources, and food and drug stores. Those efforts were able to generate 570,000 meals thus far.

CrossCheck Comes to the Aid of California's Valley Fire Victims

Posted by Tom Lombardo on Fri, Sep 18, 2015 @ 10:35 AM

Press Release
For Immediate Release:
September 18, 2015

CrossCheck Red Cross Valley FirePETALUMA, Calif. – Saturday, September 12 started out like a normal weekend in the rolling hillsides of Northern California, but by that evening the inferno that would come to be known as the "Valley Fire" had raged across Lake County towards Napa County

Headquartered less than fifty miles from the crisis, CrossCheck quickly established a fundraiser to assist the fire's victims, and the company rallied to donate just over $2,000 to the American Red Cross even before the crisis was over.

The fire still rages. It's destroyed over 75,000 acres so far even with 3,500 plus firefighters and over 400 fire engines battling it as we write. It's claimed the lives of five civilians, injured four firefighters, and it's only 40 percent contained.

Evacuation orders are in effect in Lake and Napa counties, where 585 homes have already been lost. Another 7,650 homes and 150 commercial properties remain threatened. Evacuees are camping at the Napa Valley Fairgrounds and locations in Kelseyville.

Incredibly, the structure where the fire might have started still stands. Investigators have focused on an outbuilding in the tiny town of Cobb. It's a woodshed with no electricity, and the cause of ignition has not yet been determined. There are no criminal suspicions.

Thankfully, nature helped by showering the area with rain, bringing containment to 40 percent, however temps are expected to soar again by the weekend.

"We're all hoping for the best, and we're very proud of the way our employees have come to the aid of their neighbors," said J. David Siembieda, CrossCheck’s President and CEO. “Our prayers go out to the families affected by the fire, and to the firefighters trying to protect them. We hope our contribution helps.”

CrossCheck Employees Donate to the American Cancer Society

Posted by Tom Lombardo on Thu, Sep 17, 2015 @ 07:00 AM

Press Release
For Immediate Release: September 17, 2015

Check Guarantee CharityPETALUMA, Calif. – CrossCheck, Inc., a thirty-two year old provider of payment and check guarantee services with a long history of philanthropy, contributed an incredible $7,936 to the American Cancer Society this year.

All contributions came from employees participating at company locations in Petaluma, California, Phoenix, Arizona and Dallas, Texas.

By making a contribution, employees could “dress down”, replacing business casual with jeans. The company also held a bake sale, where the culinarily gifted donated goodies and everyone else happily overpaid for them.

Employees made additional contributions by tossing spare change into a collection bucket, and when the total collected there exceeded a certain amount, dress down was extended. This time, shorts and flip-flops were allowed, and Petaluma employees gratefully noted that it happened to coincide with the hottest weather of the summer in Northern California.

The company’s efforts paid off. Of the forty-seven companies participating in this year’s fund raiser, CrossCheck came in third. These efforts matter because cancer is still the second most common cause of death in the country, claiming over 1,600 people a day. Americans spend nearly $90 billion a year for treatment alone.

However, thanks to fundraisers like CrossCheck’s and the dogged efforts of the American Cancer Society, in 2012 the United States celebrated a 20% decline in cancer death rates over the course of the previous twenty years. Two of the Society’s researchers won the Nobel Prize in 2011.

“We’re enormously proud of the way our employees consistently step up and deliver for our community,” said J. David Siembieda, CrossCheck’s President and CEO. “The American Cancer Society has done remarkable work, and we know that happens because people like our employees contribute year after year. We hope our efforts bring some hope into the lives of families across the country.”

CrossCheck #3 in American Cancer Society Relay for Life

Posted by Tom Lombardo on Thu, Sep 18, 2014 @ 06:00 AM

Press Release
For Immediate Release:
September 18, 2014

PETALUMA, CA - Company-wide donations from employees at CrossCheck Inc., the most innovative payment approval and guarantee provider in the nation, propelled the company to third place in total donations out of forty-eight participants in the Petaluma Relay for Life event, which provides funds to the American Cancer Society.

The brainchild of a Tacoma, Washington physician in 1985, Relay for Life events now span the globe with millions of participants in over twenty countries taking part in celebrations led by cancer survivors to raise funds for research, awareness, and patient care. In the United States alone over 4 million volunteer participants have raised in excess of $5 billion since the event’s inception.

CrossCheck has fielded a team since 2010 and this year raised $7,250 in the loving memory of those who lost their battle against cancer – and in the defiant spirit of “Fighting Back,” which the Relay organizers consider to be the event’s primary purpose.

Taking place at Casa Grande High School’s football field, survivors presided over the opening ceremony and walked a proud, hopeful lap around the track, cheered on by everyone. Then, to an outpouring of appreciation, caregivers took their lap and the relay began. Later came the “Luminaria Ceremony,” to honor the battles fought by those who were not there, and to help those who were process their grief.

“We’ll be back again next year,” said J. David Siembieda, CrossCheck’s President and CEO, “This is a great event and every company or individual who participates is a hero. We’re very proud of our performance, but we’re even more proud of the hope that the event inspires in our community.”
