Petaluma, California (July 30, 2018) — Several staff members from CrossCheck and its affiliate, Optio Solutions, helped assemble 7,200 pounds of grocery boxes for seniors in need while volunteering at the Redwood Empire Food Bank on July 23.
The effort was organized by CrossCheck Senior Vice President Charles Dortch III to support the food bank’s weekday Warehouse Support program where volunteers aggregate and package fresh produce, assemble grocery boxes, and sort donated staple pantry items for distribution throughout the county.
The Redwood Empire Food Bank (REFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization serving north coastal California from Sonoma County to the Oregon border. Since 1987, the REFB has provided food and nourishment to those facing hunger, currently serving 82,000 children, families and seniors in Sonoma County, while striving to end hunger in our community.
“Charles is doing great work in the community with the monthly volunteer efforts that create camaraderie among our staff members who join him,” said CrossCheck Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Chris Schumacher.
Evening Warehouse Support shifts are scheduled Monday through Thursday from 5 – 7 pm, but a variety of other volunteer opportunities are offered throughout the week (see the REFB Volunteer page for days and times.)
