Petaluma, California (November 7, 2017) — Employees at CrossCheck and its subsidiary Optio Solutions contributed a total of $1100 to relief efforts following hurricanes Irma and Maria via the American Red Cross. Staff members from company offices in Petaluma, California; Irving, Texas; and Fargo, North Dakota took part in the fundraising drive. Each was awarded with optional “dress-down days” during the first two weeks of October after donating $15, replacing business casual with jeans.
“This hurricane season has been especially devastating to people living in Gulf Coast states as well as the Caribbean,” said CrossCheck President and CEO J. David Siembieda. “Our employees generously donated to relief efforts following hurricane Harvey and now Irma and Maria.”
After cutting a path of destruction through the Caribbean, Irma made landfall in the Florida Keys on September 10 as a Category 4 hurricane before moving up the state's west coast at lower sustained winds.
The eye of Maria reached shore in Puerto Rico on September 20 as a Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 155 mph.
In other community service, employees take an active role in holiday food drives that aggregate turkeys and fill barrels of food for the Committee on the Shelterless (COTS) and its Thanksgiving Day turkey drive partner, the Redwood Empire Food Bank. They also participate in the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program and efforts to support those affected by other natural disasters.
