FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Petaluma, Calif. (August 29, 2018) — Employees at CrossCheck and its subsidiary, Optio Solutions, contributed $5,769 to the American Cancer Society (ACS) during a summer fundraising campaign held in three company locations: Petaluma, California; Irving, Texas; and Fargo, North Dakota.

“Dress Down Days are the favorite incentive among our employees for community giving,” said CrossCheck President and CEO J. David Siembieda. “In reality, our people would give generously without any individual rewards because cancer touches all of our families.”

Individuals qualified for “Dress Down Days” lasting up to four weeks depending on the level of their participation. Those contributing $30 earned the privilege of wearing jeans and casual shirts while an additional $10 allowed a few to reach the higher echelon of wearing shorts.

crosscheckEmployees also placed bills and coins in “Money Jugs” inside the front lobby of each office. Those donations contributed to the whole, resulting in an extra week of “Dress Down Days” for all employees.

A group of volunteers from CrossCheck and Optio Solutions also worked the registration tent during an ACS Relay for Life fundraising event at Casa Grande High School, Petaluma on August 18.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) funds and conducts research while sharing expert information, supporting patients, and spreading the word about cancer prevention. The ACS has contributed to efforts that have resulted in a 25 percent drop in the overall cancer death rate in the United States. That drop equates to 2.1 million fewer cancer deaths between 1991 and 2014. Progress continues and is currently estimated at 500 fewer cancer deaths each day.

In other community service, CrossCheck and Optio employees take an active role in holiday food drives that aggregate turkeys and fill barrels of food for the Committee on the Shelterless (COTS) and its Thanksgiving Day turkey drive partner, the Redwood Empire Food Bank. They also support the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, disaster relief efforts by the American Red Cross, and Collectors Challenge (a scholarship program of the ACA International Education Foundation).
